Academic & Library

East View Geospatial (EVG) has been serving universities around the globe for over twenty years. Librarians, researchers and GIS department faculty turn to EVG for topographic maps, satellite imagery, geological maps, nautical charts, atlases and, increasingly, vector data for ingestion into GIS systems. EVG specializes in procuring data from some of the hardest to reach places on Earth. With this data researchers, students and everyday patrons are able use the most up-to-date, accurate and authoritative information in their research and calculations.

PRODUCT & SERVICE OFFERINGS

International Map Sets

EVG is a unique source of worldwide mapping. EVG collects, catalogs and distributes all types of maps at every scale, from topographic and geological maps, to nautical/aeronautical charts and thematic maps. EVG has reseller agreements and direct contacts with National Mapping Agencies, local map suppliers and leading map publishers the world round. Maps are available in a variety of formats including paper maps, georeferenced rasters, ARDGs and customized GIS formats.

Raster Data

EVG maintains active relationships with every commercial satellite company in the world allowing for archive and new collection imagery at all available resolutions as well as access to other types of remotely sensed data such as aerial imagery, radar data and LiDAR data. EVG also creates precision Digital Elevation Models and 3D building and urban models at any resolution from various in-stock and easily accessible source materials. Lastly, EVG is the exclusive commercial distributor of the LandScan Global Population Database developed at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Vector Data

EVG is a premier source of GIS vector data at various scales. EVG has a large collection of nationally produced vector datasets, as well as numerous datasets created in house. EVG also has the resources to create vector data on demand for any part of the world, extracting the data from large scale topographic maps, geological maps and various imagery sources.

Geospatial Data Hosting

EVG hosts terabytes of vector data, raster data and digital maps. EVG can host your existing databases, or the databases provided by EVG. The data and raster maps can be accessed through a web application for non-GIS users, and through Web Mapping Service (WMS), Web Feature Service (WFS), or Web Coverage Service (WCS) for use in GIS. These services can simply be used to view maps/data, or can be customized to query, analyze and download the maps/data.

Map Scanning, Cataloging and Indexing

EVG maintains the world’s largest commercially-available collection of maps and geospatial data. Our own digitization, cataloging, scanning, index map-creation and overall collection management procedures has proven valuable to the academic community at large. EVG has performed numerous cataloging projects, which often include custom procurements, high-resolution scanning and metadata creation for ingestion into various ILS/OPAC systems. In addition to readily available Off-The-Shelf indexes (GIS shapefiles, tabular data, or index maps), EVG can scan maps, store digital backup copies and compile series and sheet level metadata to meet custom specifications.
